So... my funny short story Front Page News, based on a real incident, is set in Fortrose on the Black Isle in the early 2000s. One character mentioned is real, but which? It's the second story read, about 15 minutes in, free here - thanks again, Sherry! 👇

I'd read this!
After her best friend’s suicide, Leah stops pretending. She drinks to forget and wakes up in strangers’ beds with no memory of how she got there. Glasgow doesn’t care. Her eerie new neighbour does though. He moved in the day her friend died and knows things he really shouldn’t.

And finally... still 1919. Joe is the only son of Mary and Henry. They are my paternal grandparents. But Joe is not my father. 📚 Anyone fancy a long, immersive, escapist read about two real families, one of them Indian/Irish and royal, the other Canadian/British - and my own? #scotwriterpitch2025

Just curious, fellow #scotswriterpitch2025 folk. Did you set up your account just in order to do this event? I've had a BlueSky account here for a while but found it hard to fathom at first. Have been more active on Threads since leaving TwiX last year. Enjoying today though!

(Cont'd) Will strange, courageous Mary find her missing son Joe as she travels through India? And what is the shadowy connection between Joe and the court of the Maharajahs of Patiala? Will either Mary or Joe ever see Henry, or Vancouver Island, again? (TBC!) #ScotWriterPitch

(Cont'd). 1919. Mary and Henry's only son Joe grows up on Vancouver Island, just as strange as his over-protective mother. When he runs away to India, only to vanish feared dead, Mary leaves philandering Henry and travels to India alone to try to find him. (TBC!) #scotpitchwriter2025
