(Cont'd.) These two books based on real events. Mary and Henry are my paternal grandparents. Joe (pictured here as a boy with Mary) is Mary and Henry's only son. So... if Joe fails to return to Vancouver from India in 1919, will I ever be born? 😳 Saga/Historical Fiction/autism #scotwriterpitch2025

Strange Mary Southgate is locked up for most of her childhood. She bites, paces carpets, shatters wax dolls. When she siezes her only chance to escape, eloping with dubious lawyer Henry, what could possibly go wrong? (TBC!).

Hello! I've set up shop on #Threads rather than here on #Bluesky - but - a literary pitch event I enjoyed supporting on TwiX before I left has now been moved to Bluesky. As an author, what bookish delights am I missing here? Any advice? Pic of blue sky with mimosa. #Books #Writing #Editing #author

Bonne année 2024 from Nice! Soggy morning when the Promenade des Anglais precisely mirrored this equally soggy Matisse. Palm trees have grown a bit though and I expect they enjoy the occasional deluge!

I visited the Royal Engineers Museum in Kent on a research trip this week where I spotted these tiny phials of #WWI poison gas, complete with a cheery poem by which to remember the smell of the different kinds. The heartbreaking normalisation of warfare from 100+ years ago. So little has changed 💔

Hello Bluesky. Anyone out there? Expect posts about #authors, #books, #editing, #culture, #museums, #heritage, #nature, #food, and #foraging from me. Will randomly repost clever and interesting stuff, especially if it makes me laugh. Local #BlackIsle #Bluesky pic 😎
