Nearly 400 millionaires and billionaires have signed a letter calling for increased taxes on the super-rich.

Extreme wealth means extreme power - over our politics, our media, and our lives.

When even the super-rich know it's time to tax them more, will Labour finally listen?

My father in law just described this as the most compelling party political broadcast he's seen. "Homes are for living in - not landlord's portfolios, energy is for warming those homes - not record dividends, rivers are for nature and swimming in - not being poisoned to protect profits" 👏👏👏

Farage is entirely responsible here but has thrown his ‘team’ under the bus for 'admin' errors

Real problem is he's showing profound disrespect for his position as an MP - a role well-paid from the public purse & which the majority of us dedicate ourselves to as a more-than-full-time job
NEW: NEW: Standards commissioner finds Nigel Farage committed seventeen breaches of MPs code of conduct.

He failed to declare £333,000 in outside interests (more than 3x MPs annual salary)…

Extraordinary polling from @yougov.co.uk today, showing the @greenparty.org.uk in first place across all working age people

🟢Grn - 20.5%
🔴Lab - 20.3%
⚫Ref - 20.1%
🔵Con - 15.5%

baffling why 60% of pensioners are supporting Con/Ref who will slash public spending that mainly goes to pensioners

A very timely new database out today from @influencemap.bsky.social - the 'carbon majors' database identifies the weirdly small number of fossil fuel gatekeepers, the corporate and state-owned entities that unlock ultra-dangerous fuel substances and profit wildly from their continued use:

Worth noting losses to federal science extend well beyond these programs, e.g., to Dept of Agriculture, Dept of the Interior, and elsewhere. We've lost 30% of our federal colleagues at the USGS National Climate Adaptation Science Center in the past year.

Rebuilding will take decades.
This is the most astonishing graph of what the Trump regime has done to US science. They have destroyed the federal science workforce across the board. The negative impacts on Americans will be felt for generations, and the US might never be the same again.

The biggest miscalculation of the Trumpists is about human nature. They assume we're all selfish and cowardly and can be cowed into silence or submission or surrender, which is to say they seem to base their version of human nature partly on themselves and partly on their scorn for the rest of us.

I wrote an essay in the immediate aftermath of the 2024 election, an essay to encourage people to not give up and not assume that the Trumpists had won. It follows, after this prelude about where we a...

This was announced 12 days ago and really ought to have received more attention.
The UK & other rich countries just gifted U.S. corporations’ a major exemption from int'l tax rules.

The UK was already haemorrhaging an estimated $9 billion a year to tax-cheating US megacorps.
