This timing makes a lot more sense now, doesn’t it?

Adm. Alvin Holsey resigned in October as commander of U.S. Southern Command right after flagging concerns about those U.S. military strikes on “suspected” drug boats in the Caribbean.

He served for 37 years.

This is one of the young great horned owls I saw over the summer.

It's lost most of its baby fluff, but it hasn't developed its "horns" (actually called plumicorns) yet.

Oh, this hurts. Tammie was personally responsible for getting me to the Tribeca Film Festival, my first fest, and opening doors for me at Sundance as well. I knew her as a patient but enthusiastic booster of women in cinema, in criticism, and across the film industry. An absolute light in the field.

Last week, ICE arrested and separated a father and son after a routine check-in. Six-year-old Yuanxin had just enrolled in the first grade at an elementary school in Astoria. Now he's in custody, alone. ICE won't say where. This cruelty serves no one. It must end.

You have the right to record ICE.

You have the right to film any operation happening in public as long as you do not interfere or impede it.

Your camera is proof, but keep a safe distance. KEEP RECORDING.
