The correct response to “parents rights activists” is: our children are whole human beings in their own right, not our property. We should not claim rights over our children but instead accept the *responsibility* to give them the space to grow into the people they are.

I must say this as clearly as possible: if you have, in the last ten years, thought "I just don't get tech" or that you're "getting old" or "you're not technical," you are the victim - so much of the tech industry is now oriented around making you do stuff rather than doing stuff for you.
I was seriously relieved when I started listening to your podcast and realized my increasing levels of frustration with modern tech are not because I'm getting older (I'm only 40 for gods's sake!) but because everything is actively getting worse. 🫠

So, either the system is *not* healthy – or the Trumpist regime is not an acute threat. The latter is a much more comfortable proposition, especially as Democratic / liberals leaders have struggled to meaningfully transcend politics as usual. Their ineptitude fuels the normalization.

The way some establishment Democrats and leading Liberals have acted suggests they feel a kinship with their Republican opponents that is rooted in class politics. They seem incapable of viewing leading rightwing operatives as anything but fellow elites.

For me it isn't the Swifties or whomever that changed the place... it was the fence sitters who didn't mind and weren't personally impacted who followed the large fandom groups that started messing up the vibe.

if you're wondering which people on the right had a genuine, principled interest in meritocracy and which of them were simply grabbing the most noble sounding language facially to the left of "resegregate now", simply look around and try to find the resisters of the emerging status quo. I'll wait

I try to remember that whenever we talk about how much of a fucked up horror show the world is, what we mean is that the world is full of good people being wronged and beauty being destroyed, that we risk losing all of it—not a denial of the good in the world but its affirmation.
