Friendly reminder: Bsky doesn't censor words. You can say things like kill and fuck here.

When you choose to bowdlerize words on Bsky, it just breaks people's filters. If you type "r*pe" it means that anyone who has a filter to block the word "rape" still sees your post. Knock it off!

I do not wish to be critical, but some of you are naming things that are extremely not universally beloved. Also, many of you are insane.

This is a good answer. Krispy Kreme are definitely "mid."
I lived in the original home of Krispy Kreme for years. A person took me out on a very awkward date I didn't realize was a date at the original Krispy Kreme with the original "hot" sign.

And I just...they're so unsatisfying. Like they're EMPTY somehow.

Anyway more for all y'all I guess.
Guys, I really need to talk about something dumb and meaningless. What's a universally beloved sweet treat that you think is just mid? For me, it's meringue.

*taps sign* When you add asterisks to Neil Gaiman's name, it doesn't make your post less offensive. It just breaks the filters people have in place to avoid reading about him.

Knock it off!

LOL I also went 😕 about Damon as Odysseus.
When I first saw the headline: I mean, I’m not thrilled about Matt Damon’s casting either…

But of course it’s something creepy, dumb,& weird. An obsession about Sparta & their aryan warrior fantasy?

But I didn’t know Lupita was Helen of Troy & that’s brilliant. The rest of the cast sounds amazing.

If anyone says Lupita Nyong’o is miscast as the most beautiful woman in the world, you know you can safely discard any further opinions from that person

So caught up in the euphoria of having Lupita Nyong'o, that for a minute she lived in a world where racism didn't exist.
Okay, I missed that Lupita Nyong'o was cast as Helen of Troy. I thought we were all just talking about how gorgeous she is because, you know, she exists.

Anyway, basically perfect casting.

I bet $20 she can't pronounce my VERY VERY GERMAN NAME.

(Apologies for putting this video in your feed. I needed to make this about me and my name trauma.)

New, by me: A must-read NYT Magazine report showed how Senator Chuck Grassley's oversight work as Judiciary Committee chair led to career FBI agents or supervisors being forced out, in some cases with no investigation supporting their alleged wrongdoing.

Ok here is a list of all the anti-ICE indie nail polishes that I know of, so far.
Disclaimer: I haven't tried any of them* so idk how they are in practice, and this is not a thread of reviews
I have Things To Do but am considering starting a Big Thread of all the indie nail polish makers with an anti-ICE nail polish, just to feel something that isn't depressing

While I am sure the GOP will make every attempt to undermine the 2026 election, the strongest rebuke of Election Doomerism is that, in the last 13 months, Republicans have failed to flip a single legislative seat, anywhere.

They are losing ground, and losing it fast.
You know how I reported that Dems flipped 21% of all GOP-held legislative seats at play throughout 2025, so more than one in five?

Well, they kept that up in January:

Dems flipped 1 out of the 3 GOP-held seats that were in play last month.

And they came within 21 votes of making it 2 out of 3.

My main takeaway here is that — outside of gear that is literally used by law enforcement and government agencies in different parts of the globe — it's actually kinda hard for journalists covering stuff in the U.S. to find gear that will protect them right now. www.niemanlab.org/2026/01/what...

Former Texas Lege reporter here. A Dem hasn't held this seat since 1990. Tarrant is the safest of red suburban counties. There is no way the TX and national GOP aren't in panic mode right now.
JUST IN: Democrats flip a red seat in the Texas Senate.

Taylor Rehmet wins against Leigh Wambsganss, a conservative activist who helped lead right-wing efforts to take over TX school boards.

With all early vote, and 95% of precincts, in, Dem up 57/43.

Trump won this seat by 17% in Tarrant County.

I don't fly enough to have "miles" but if you'd like to donate, the link is in the thread.
a woman reached out to donate 500,000 delta skymiles to get people home to MN as they are released from custody in TX.

we're getting flights booked today. it should be enough to get at least 15 people home.

delta should be doing for free since they take ICE money.
