pessimisms of all kinds seem performatively self defeating to me in a peculiar way - it's not so much that I can't imagine being convinced of some version of "good things aren't possible (through the state / in general)", but I can't imagine doing theory about it
there is a strain of very online leftism that i will call left-anarcho-pessimism or something along those lines, which is not only opposed to the idea that the state can ever do anything good but also to the idea that anyone can ever do anything good in our fallen world

Little known fact, but the reason it was known as “the orb” was due to a failed American heartland campaign to name it after Roy Orbison in 1960. Alas, “Only the Lonely” know how that failure felt.
Fun fact: The earth was named after Eartha Kitt in 1967. Before then, it had no proper name, or was referred to casually in conversation as "the orb"
