I'm planning an international residency with a predominantly Muslim country and we somehow managed to plan this over Christmas AND into Ramadan. Way to piss off all sorts of people wanting to apply (we had no choice, time constraints).

Photo by Pierre Lavie. Yes this is me. And I threw my Leica. It landed on the bass plate with hardly a scratch. Another Photographer grabbed it along with my phone and I was able to track him later. I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.

I have thoroughly lost the ability to differentiate between real and fictitious. And not because of better fakes, but because of a reality that is so far from real that about the only explanation left is the virtuality of the Matrix, mass delusion or a Sci-Fi timeline split.

An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

Okay. So it turns out that even if you go on to work with stuff that doesn't need school-level physics, math and chemistry you will still need this working knowledge 20-odd years later to help your child study.
