The US voted with Russia, China and N. Korea against most of the civilized world. This is where we are at.

Incarceration of women must be examined. The carceral system is beyond flawed. This is a Feminist issue, and a world issue.
‘Bad girls’ is how society labels women in prison. But what if that label is a lie? | Sabrina Mahtani
Incarceration should be a last resort, yet this broken and brutal system punishes marginalised women, most of whom are inside for non-violent crimes

Phang: It just underscores how much this Trump administration has destroyed any concept of public safety — that federal cases cannot be prosecuted in the state of New Jersey because Alina Haba refuses to actually step away from this bullshit.

My family buys its health insurance through the ACA exchange. Our premium is $1700 a month. On January 1 it jumps to $3000.

That feels pretty free market to me. These insurance companies can charge us whatever the f*ck they want…

Today is World AIDS day. Trump has refused to participate and ordered federal employees to not post anything commemorating the fight against the deadly disease.

This is despicable. The Trump administration is trying to erase #LGBT people.

ICE raids are cruel, inhumane, and do nothing to serve public safety.

This World AIDS Day, we remember the hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers lost to HIV and AIDS, and those living with HIV today. We must remind ourselves and each other that the fight isn’t over until the epidemic is over for everyone.

Years of antipalestinian, nationalistic propaganda closed off whatever was left of Israel's basic humanity. Palestinians have been held hostage by Hamas and by the propagandized IDF and nationalistic fervor. Palestinians deserve a safe place to live, a two state solution. People are not animals.

Read every word & share with everyone you know. This is real life here in Chicago. Americans need to know this grotesque reality & stand with us.
Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.
