Finally caught up with "One Battle After Another" yesterday, and I have to say: bold choice for Sean Penn to base his performance on Vince McMahon.

My program for the second day of the Haifa Film Festival: First, "Silent Friend" a drama from Hungarian director Ildikó Enyedi; second, Hayao Miyazaki's "Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro"!
Unfortunately, due to a scheduling snafu, I'm gonna have to miss the last 15 minutes of the first one.

For the next week and a half, I'm going to be seeing a bunch of movies at the Haifa International Film Festival!
First up, starting in about 15 minutes, Julia Ducournau's new body horror, "Alpha"! Bets are open on how long before I start feeling physically ill (complememtary).

So, fun thing I just found out: John Oliver's latest piece on Netanyahu is geoblocked in Israel. Had to use a VPN to watch it.

Went to a movie today, and they played the trailer for the new TRON. The second they revealed Jared Leto's face, the woman sitting next to me was like "oh no..."
Fantastic Four is pretty good, by the way.

There are many reasons to hate this move, but "Melania posed for nude photos" isn't one of them. This isn't even about slut-shaming or whatnot. Associating opera with sex is not degrading to the artform or whatever, because operas can be very sexual. Here are some examples (NSFW, of course):
I don’t know about any of you, but when I think about the arts, I always associate opera with nude pictures.

The thing that gets me with this stuff is that I don't think, in this case, he's motivated by racism. I think it really is just that he hates having to learn a new name for something. The racism (and potential to distract from the Epstein case) is just a bonus.

Trump threatens Washington stadium deal unless NFL team readopts Redskins name
U.S. President Donald Trump threatened on Sunday to interfere with a deal to build a new football stadium in Washington, D.C., unless the local NFL team, now known as the Commanders, changes its name back to Redskins.

Watched Ari Aster's new film "Eddington" last night, and unfortunately, it's not very good at all. Way too long, meandering, overstuffed with half-baked ideas. Most importantly, Ari Aster is not a filmmaker equipped to talk about contemporary real world issues.

What I love about that bit is how it informs Luthor's character. There are so many ways he could have done this, and he purposefully chose the one that is the most unnecessarily cruel. #superman
Even if you've decided to never care about the genre again, EVERYONE needs to see #Superman simply because Gunn has gifted humanity the greatest single visual representation for "People Who Manufacture Outrage On Social Media" EVER and it *needs* to be adopted as permanent memetic shorthand, ASAP 🙏

I know what this guy meant, but I am now picturing someone crying and begging for mercy because they were sentenced to live the rest of their life in The Netherlands, lol.
If you kidnap and disappear a
4-year-old with stage 4 cancer, you should at a minimum spend the rest of your life behind bars.
If you do it as part of an ethnic cleansing program, you should do your hard time at the Hague.
