While reporting this, I had something happen that's never happened. A comms rep for one of the co's disputed my reporting and said what I was telling them was untrue because it was not in Grok, xAI's chatbot.
I was looking directly at the files. And this person was using AI to challenge the truth.

What's happening at the Post is a larger version of what happened at Crosscut IMO: New owner gets excited about the *idea* of journalism so invests big up front. But when it inevitably doesn't deliver riches and glory, they cut bait. Journalism has to be seen as a public good, not a fun project.

reporting is not a crime. the whisper-thin charges hopefully make folks realize it's not about anything other than Lemon and now Georgia Fort being black independent journalists, without corporate legal support. It's bullying, its unconstitutional and un-American.

So, indeed it was a squirrel. And it lives, but it terrorized our house on the way out. Story: last night, against my wife’s wishes, I got on the roof and dropped a weighted rope down the chimney, hoping the little a-hole would wise up and crawl out. 1/x
