1) Fixed a sticky deadbolt
2) Successfully shimmed a strike plate for a solid wood door that shrinks enough in the dry season to stop closing.

for the love of god, AI systems aren't "just tools that are neither good nor evil in and of themselves". AI systems *are* tools of capitalism. they exist as tools of capitalism. there is no AI system "in and of itself" outside of capitalism

Is there a way to validate a solicitation for participation in a class action suit settlement? We get notices about monthly these days and it would be nice to have a way to know whether that website asking for my personal data is legit.

(This is a request for advice on the preceding question only.)

It is EXHAUSTING not only being made responsible for coming up with new kinds of assignments for our students; it's also tedious reading op-eds that suggest the core problem is a crisis in teaching. But, as Chris and I lay out here, this isn't a crisis in teaching; it's an attack on learning.

There should be tents selling foods of all cultures, as is proper for a MYC block party and for this inauguration as well.
Registration is now open to attend Mayor-elect Mamdani’s inauguration, which is evidently being organized as a block party. People who aren’t local can sign up to watch the admin’s livestream

For me, the social media post of the year was the person who put a better version of this up about Jesus on Easter. I wish I had pinned it so I could give proper credit.
a man in a purple suit says " i never yielded and as you can see , i am not dead "
Alt: T'Challa from Black Panther is walking from the wreckage of a fighter copter(?) he caused to crash and is saying: "I never yielded, and as you can see, I am not dead!"

A federal judge just blocked HUD from imposing illegal conditions that would have cut off long term housing for thousands of people while also punishing providers serving vulnerable people. We sued, and we won.
This court order keeps people off the streets while HUD is forced to follow the law.
