Seen multiple complaints that Matilda, Princess of Cannock, is a bad spellcaster and weak fighter.

Are they playing the same game? She gets great spells (e.g., Kacrack) and abilities (e.g., Thin Air and Wizardly Waft).

Some of her stats are a little low but give her a few seeds and she shines.

It turns out that the folks at Anthropic used two of my books to train their Large Language Models. I've gone and submitted my claim via the class action settlement. If you're an author whose work has been stolen, you should too

Aside from the obvious ways that OpenAI, ChatGPT and other LLMs have stolen from artists and creatives, I wonder… in what ways (and to what extent) have they stolen from you personally?

I’m writing an essay on the subject and curious to hear people’s thoughts and reactions to the question.

Welp, that 'AI' revolution is going great.

Seems like whoever is behind these 'toys' should be in prison for child endangerment and potentially worse things to do with underage adult activities.

Really trying to not post about politics anymore but...

This is where we are. Cut many of our hard fought environment protections. Making deals with some of the worst nations on the planet. Anything for a profit.

Fossil of the day award winner, indeed.
Yesterday Canada received the "fossil of the day" award for countries doing the most to achieve the least. First time since Harper was PM.

In recent years Canada built up influence, but under Carney is seen as a country that chooses irrelevancy in negotiations as it pursues a fossil fuel agenda.

"AI business model is steal first, ask permission later, and Google's CEO is clinging to the notion of opt-outs as justifying it: 'We do give people those rights'"

🤣

Opt-outs don't work.
They are not easy, broad, or functional as most "opt-out" material is added anyway from secondary sources.
Everyone knows the AI business model is steal first, ask permission later, and Google's CEO is clinging to the notion of opt-outs as justifying it: 'We do give people those rights'

I'm still super excited about Dragon Qu1est 7 Reimagined but I really don't get some of the complaints. They don't match my experience at all.

Really? Why?

I think it had a required pit drop but too mazey?

authors you have the chance to do the funniest thing right now
AI advocates have warned that if every author in the class action filed a claim, it would "financially ruin" the entire industry.
Authors celebrate “historic” settlement coming soon in Anthropic class action
Advocates fear such settlements will “financially ruin” the AI industry.

These days we'd call it an 'LLM' or 'AI', I guess, but it's the same dystopian slop no matter the century.

"[Maribel] may speak her mind and come across strongly, but she deeply cares for the protagonist and is a crucial part of his journey."

I can't say I liked Maribel much in DQ7. Kiefer is described as spoiled but I found that applied to Maribel more. That was more irksome than her bluntness, IMO.
