Oh great the ancient evil returns once again 🫠
KOSA is being reintroduced today.

It's always been a dangerous censorship bill.

But in this environment, with Trump weaponizing every aspect of the Federal government to suppress speech he doesn't like, KOSA is a catastrophic attack on human rights.

We have to stop it.

KOSA is a censorship bill that won’t make kids safe. Instead, it'll put all internet users at risk, especially youth. If you believe in a free and open internet, tell your lawmakers to reject #KOSA!

Bad, powerful people have decided that it’s fun to do bad things, not because it benefits them in some way, but because it will make good people mad and is the only way they can use their power in a way they find that amusing and it’s a nightmare for society.

"where are all the protests?"

read our series showing the legacy of both the Trump and Biden admins—from BLM in the 2010s, to Standing Rock, to George Floyd, to the Palestine encampments—as protest suppression and criminalization. politicians want to call blocking traffic and masking "terrorism."
Welcome to the United States of Suppression
Our new series documents the recent crackdown on dissent and protests in the U.S.

I spent four years investigating these sorts of claims.

Children aren’t being taught they’re inherently victims or oppressors. Teachers aren’t leading kids to change genders.

Instead these claims are used as a pretext to sanitize history curricula and impose conservative Christian ideas in schools

The first official camps were just announced. Are you paying attention yet? Are you ready to risk something for everything?

Do you understand yet that our liberation as human beings is intrinsically tied to each other?

Are you willing to protect those more vulnerable than you?

Or do you want this

I love looking at things from before Jan 20th because it all just seems so vague and meaningless. Ephemera from a different world.

Such is the forward arrow of time I guess.

If I ever become a con artist, it'll be as an Iraqi Dinar guy.

Cryptocurrency?

No I only invest in Saddam Hussein era hard currency.

It's absurd how much people take modern medicine for granted

For much of human history, cancer was largely just a death sentence.

By the 1970s, overall, it was about a coinflip, roughly 50/50 chance of surviving it.

Now, about 80% of people who get cancer survive at least 5 years. That's amazing!

Hey, @fivefourpod.bsky.social I'd like your take on this:

My sense is that Trump is doing stuff to provoke lawsuits to take to the supreme court. Does that make sense? Is there something I'm missing?

NEW: 30 major anti-abortion leaders on Wednesday wrote to the DOJ formally asking them to enforce the Comstock Act banning the mailing of abortion pills

This appears to be the first step towards a threat legal scholars have been warning about: a de facto federal abortion ban

Mindset shift for my fellow spite-enthusiasts:

I've reframed the Trump administration as a cosmic horror in my mind, activating my deep seated desire to be better than HP Lovecraft.

Manmade horrors beyond *MY* comprehension? Skill issue.

I would simply understand the horrors and not go mad.

I know this doesn't matter and they'll never be accountable for it, but every supreme court justice who voted the president be above the law in the aptly named Trump v United States is 100% a traitor to the republic.

They've betrayed their oaths, the country, and the constitution.

The most boomer shit I've ever heard is Art Bell complaining about the song cop killer in 2004 while claiming that Vietnam protest music ended the war.

I like Art for the most part but this has to be one of the most insufferable music opinions I've ever heard.

Yesterday I pulled overt references of queerness off my site, my very successful store that sells my books that have queer main characters. Because a few days ago, Meta emailed saying my advertising on their platform will be restricted - my site was categorized as "sexuality and gender identity."

Any suggestions welcome.
