It took Peter Staley two weeks to build 200 full-sized coffins.

The longtime AIDS activist, with a group of volunteers, fashioned them out of styrofoam, tape and velcro. On Thursday, the volunteers stacked coffins 10 layers deep outside the State Department to protest cuts to global AIDS relief.

What everyone seems to be letting the Trump propaganda machine get away with is that it DOES. NOT. MATTER if he was a nice guy or not. The point is he was legally allowed to be here, was grabbed by mistake and deported sans due process as part of a vast illegal rendition scheme. That’s what matters.
Leavitt describes Abrego Garcia as "hiding in Maryland" and says, "based on the sensationalism of many of the people in this room, you would think we deported a candidate for father of the year"

Yes. The situation at NIH is worse than the public realizes.

The #NIH is on track to be effectively ended as a funder of evidence-based research within a year.

That is not an exaggeration. The firings and consolidation announced today will create a new, MUCH worse NIH.

The situation at the NIH and for all biomedical and cancer cure research in the United States is MUCH MUCH WORSE than you realize.
Ruining studies and potentially harming research subjects...

Abruptly terminating clinical trials...

I just got a public death threat from a few folks who noticed I am doing a library event to talk about my career and my books. They called me all the familiar names, then “I won’t be sad if someone shoots her in the face.” And a woman’s reply, “Right between the eyes.”

I am a children’s author.

An American doctor in Gaza described waking up to the sound of bombs last night. "All I could think was: we’re going to go back to this, and the world is going to continue to not care. I don’t know why more people aren’t burning shit down over this, I really don’t.”
Israel is bombing Gaza again. Here's what doctors are seeing on the ground.
"I think ceasefire is a very loose term,” said one physician in Gaza. “I wouldn’t say we entered Gaza at a time of peace and quiet.”

A US-born citizen was walking near Chicago in January. ICE snatched him off the street, handcuffed him, threw into a van. His wallet, which contained his ID, was confiscated. He was detained for 10 hours before being released without a record of what occurred.
