I think one of the hardest things about this year is the normalization of incompetence, corruption, and chaos. In any other year under any other administration, any one of the stories about this president would be a fucking scandal, occupy the news cycle for days, and be utterly disqualifying.
Since January, millions are unemployed, prices have skyrocketed while families go hungry, fundamental rights are under assault (particularly for marginalized folks), cities are under siege, corruption is rampant, federal services are gone, and the president is busy renovating the White House.

It drives me up the wall when critics point to SNAP recipients buying food they’re quoted/unquote “not supposed to buy” with food stamps.
Like heaven forbid someone living day in day out on peanut butter sandwiches and pasta decide to buy themselves a steak every once in awhile.

$4200/year budgeted to produce a surplus of groceries for an extra month limits spending to <$75/week - only $10/day - to feed an entire family. Most grocery bills these days are more than twice that amount.
This math straight up doesn’t math.

Just adding to this. Pregnancy can be a transformative experience. It also can be - even under the best of circumstances - deeply uncomfortable and even physically painful. It's also a time when every single thing you do is scrutinized - by you, your doctor, & others
Telling pregnant folks not to take fever reducers during pregnancy will absolutely increase the KNOWN risk of adverse outcomes due to delayed treatment (or failure to treat) a dangerously high fever during pregnancy.

Was so delighted that the pharmacy downstairs of my PCP’s office had walk-ins for combined COVID/flu. Got the shots on the spot.
Felt kind of under the weather for the evening. Totally fine by morning.

Is it okay to say regardless of whether DJT signed that poem (and we all know he did), and even though we can all agree on the misogyny of the whole thing, the whole poem and birthday book thing is also just really, really deeply weird?

This is so fucked up because it's really just a new way to blame and shame a patient by positing infertility as a consequence of "lifestyle choices". Yet, we know most fertility patients go to clinics bc they need actual medical procedures to enable conception.
