So, I've been seeing more negativity around recently, and in tandem with that, I've been seeing reports of more bots and disinformation networks popping up on Bluesky. So I wanted to take a moment to point out what can be done to encourage positive action and prevent disinfo. 🧵

if you want a long read that involves udders, a hot air balloon, and some extremely dubious data on egg prices, the story I’ve been working on for the last few months where I tried to single-handedly take on every government function myself is now online! www.theatlantic.com/magazine/202...

Allow me to connect some dots for you:

Too much of the world currently relies for its basic functions on resources which must be continuously extracted. You burn that oil one time and oops, now you need more.

Geopolitical horrors are, in fact, one of the reasons we need to move to renewables ASAP.

Wolves good.

Not a movie or show, just, like, the animal. Wolves.

They're pretty cool.

Blanket censoring the word “gambling” is literally a pro gambling move.

Gambling platforms avoid the word for obvious reasons, so YouTube eliminating its use under the pretense of combating gambling is the best fucking cover a gambling platform could ask for.

It’s pretty disgusting.
YouTube removed another of my anti-videogame gambling videos for being pro-gambling.

What a fucking farce of a website.

@protonjon.bsky.social Plushie Bagel is being mischievous. Apparently the reason I haven't gotten mine yet is that he took a short vacation in Puerto Rico??? Looking forward to him getting back from the vacation and finally arriving! (All's well, just think it's funny given it's, well, Bagel!)

Roy is the only Koopaling who can be defeated more than once in a single playthrough of Super Mario Bros. 3. In fact, players wishing to maximize their gameplay must take the Quadruple Roy Route.

I know “they probably got AI to write it” replies are the immediate response, but I think it’s more pathetic to actually use your own written words to defend the thing that publications want to replace you with.

Don’t let CEOs quibble over how much they’re pushing for AI. Regurgitative AI is a plagiaristic poison, to use any amount of it is to use it too much.

They want the concessions, because concessions can creep. Zero tolerance is the only way to say no to it.

A """funny""" thing I've noticed is that if you see a buckwild and totally made up claim on Reddit and then search that claim on Google, trying to source it, the Gemini AI summary will be like "oh, yeah, that totally happened, and my source is that three hour old Reddit thread you were just reading"

Also, as the coiner of the term, I should point out again that simply using premade assistance is not asset flipping. That’s when you did *zero* work of your own.

Still, I’d rather someone fully asset flip than use AI. Regurgitative AI is asset flipping’s perverse cousin.

This is a kind of epiphany that I kinda *felt* but never was able to put to words, and it is brilliant.
When executives (and their marketing sycophants) say something, it's not because they believe it's *true*, it's what they *want* to happen.
NEW VIDEO: Big business is a death cult worshipping a many-faced Techno God. In an industry full of takers who want to eradicate the makers, so-called AI promises a nonsensical fantasy where games are made for free and sold to a world of laid off former workers. It is unhinged.

I don't think the shutdown could've ended any better than this. I know, it's still shit- but it's because Republicans are complete bastards and were willing to completely destroy everything, starve people, etc. to prevent ACA subsidies, not because of anything Dems did.

Federal workers are going without pay or getting fired entirely, putting hundreds of thousands of families livelihoods at risk.

And where are Republican House members? On paid vacations, not showing up to work for weeks on end.

I refuse to doom. I think a lot of people are surprised that my dark and spooky aesthetic comes paired with a very sunny disposition. I’m not ignorant to how fucked up things are right now, but when so many evil people in power try to drown you in despair, hope and joy is a weapon.
