Today is Endangered Species Day. An ideal day to pause and share a thoughtful poem -perhaps: The Pangolin or The Flight of The Last Bee or Plunder the Ocean or To the Hedgehog in my Garden or The Annual General Meeting of Wildlife Representatives (& dozens more)

Lovely book post today. A new anthology of poems from Julie Hare. Published by Literacy Shed. #WhereTheForestOnceStood reflects on the climate crisis. Thanks for my copy. Looking forward to sharing it with our Eco-council. @literacyshed @tortoise1hare2.bsky.social

Enclosed the veggie patch today to give us somewhere to contain the tortoise when we don't fancy having our toes bitten.

He escaped within 5 minutes by climbing the rhubarb. 🙄🐢

Unbelievably excited that my first book is charting at 6 in the humorous kids poetry category (amazon). If anyone would like to buy a copy to help propel me to number 1, I would be so grateful. 🥰

@nexpro.bsky.social does anyone else on here ask you for as much help as me?? 😆.... I need a suggested small gift for a MASSIVE D&D fan who has a great deal of D&D stuff. Any thoughts? X

This is a hard one to explain…
“Sylvester’s Letter” by #MatthewBurgess and #JoshCorcoran is what I can only describe as an utterly joyful book about loss, remembering and love. It’s vibrant, it pops, the felt tip
Art is wonderful, it celebrates the memory and the person. Stunning. #picturebookPage

My heart just breaks for those who knew and loved this magnificent Oak. If such an ancient tree has no protection in law, what hope have we for the rest of Nature?

I can't understand how anyone involved in arboriculture would agree to be involved in such a crime.

Love seeing what the kids get up to on the days we aren't out and about during hols. Look at this setup! I can't think of a narrative to tie it all together. They clearly have one. Play is bloody marvellous!

@nexpro.bsky.social hello my inspiring game friend! Do you know of any maths focused games - card or other- which are really addictive and reasonably fast plays? Looking particularly for something suitable for ks2 kids. Thank you. 😊

My latest article for @neunion.bsky.social Educate magazine is about non-fiction. It's often overlooked when talking about reading in the classroom and it shouldn't be. An exciting non-fiction text can engage readers just as well as any other. @michaelrosenyes.bsky.social @teresacremin.bsky.social

I think everyone who works in a primary school accepts that the curriculum is overloaded. We simply can't squeeze in everything that we're supposed to. However, there are two things that we must ensure take place each day: class storytime and independent reading. They're far too important to drop.

For anyone who's read VARJAK PAW and wants to know how it was written - or anyone interested in the #writing process - here's a free resource I made for the British Library, sharing pages from 7 different drafts. You can have a lot of fun showing this to a class!

Happy Disability Day! My next book, I WANT TO DANCE IN PANTS (out Mar. 15 from Sleeping Bear), was inspired by a facet of my own disability: sensory processing disorder and my life-long battle with clothes attacking me. I hope you preorder a copy from your local indie bookstore.
