Proud to be part of this work lead by wonderful medical student Mahaa Ahmed examining the roll out of nirsevimab in its first season of use. This study examined children born outside of RSV season who are therefore dependent on their primary care practices (and not birth hospital) to get nirsevimab

The death toll this past #flu season took on kids continues to climb. In its latest flu update, #CDC reports on another 4 deaths, bringing the total to date to 250 — an extraordinary number. 89% of the kids for whom vaccination status was known weren't fully vaccinated.

#RSV rates in infants are falling. Hospitalizations are down 28 % and 43 % for infants less than 7 months in two different networks, as reported in this week's MMWR.
This is real world evidence that maternal immunization and MAbs are protecting this vulnerable populations - #MedSky.

$5 million boost for world-first trial tackling strep infections in both children and adults
A major new clinical trial, the Streptococcal Adaptive Platform (STRAP), has received $5 million in funding from the Australian Government’s Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) to improve treatment for life-threatening streptococcal infections across all age groups. Lead by researchers and clinicians from the Doherty Institute, Murdoch Children's Research Institute (MCRI), and other national and international partners.

It’s been a tough few weeks. My 10yo daughter was diagnosed with a very rare, aggressive cancer called interdigitating dendritic cell sarcoma (IDCS). I’m reaching out to identify clinicians/patients who have encountered pediatric IDCS or other (non-LCH) dendritic or histiocytic sarcomas cases.
