Nothing I witnessed in #Russia while researching The Tiger in 2006-7 contradicts this assertion. Based on what I witnessed, Russia is the most intellectually and psychologically damaged country in the developed world. That MAGA USA emulates them should terrify and motivate everyone.
People _really_ need to understand that the problem with Russia isn't Putin; their entire culture and way of thinking is fantastically fucked up in so many ways.

The 4 year Russian death toll in Ukraine is incredible. It would cause generational trauma and result in decades of cinematic catharsis in the United States. Yet Russians do not seem particularly bothered and are quite willing to keep throwing their kids in the meat grinder.
