In the fight against fascism in Spain the Canadian "Mac-Pap" Battalion earned a fearsome reputation as the "Fighting Canucks."
They were led by a Timmins gold miner Nilo Makela.
Another hero was Chicago steelworker Milton Herndon who led a machine-gun company for the Mac-Paps.

Layoffs are a very aggressive move by Canada Post that seem designed to scare union members into abandoning their strike. The tactic may well backfire by generating more anger and resentment directed at management.

There was a student walkout for Palestine today at McGill and about ⅔ of my students didn’t show up for class.
The ⅓ that did show up did so because they thought it would be weird to have a walkout if you didn’t actually walk out of class.
