I would describe Payton Pritchard's sideline response about going back to the bench as "terse."

If Baylor Scheierman went to a significantly better barber and put on a No. 32 Mavs jersey, he could pass as Cooper Flagg for several minutes before someone realized what was going on

The NBA in 2026: Feel the excitement!
Yeah I think it's a contract trade more than anything on the court

Brad is smarter than me, so I assume this is a great trade but I can’t say I see it lol

Obviously the big story is Shams hilariously choosing to disguise the identity of a Mysterious Milwaukee Star that the Timberwolves will be pursuing, but also labeling Kevin Huerter a "sharpshooter" is quite the stretch.
Bulls and Pistons have desires met here in a young and veteran guards to Chicago and a sharpshooter goes to Detroit. Minnesota creates significant tax savings and roster space as they pursue a Milwaukee star this week.

Cursed to have chosen (!) to cheer for Tottenham Hotspur.

Blessed to watch Xavi Simons play.

Listen, the Other Site has its flaws, but one thing it gets absolutely correct: It is @johnkaralis.com's fault that Jayson Tatum might not come back this year, so make sure you direct all complaints at him.

Baylor Scheierman is REALLY strong, which honestly might be a little under-discussed.

IMO the biggest issues facing the NBA are, in some order:

- The CBA being boring-complicated, not fun-complicated
- The 2016 Finals being a brutally tough act to follow
- The death of Twitter
The trade deadline is about a week away.

I spent a decade as maybe one of the 500 most informed people in the world on the NBA's CBA and now I can barely keep track of all the rules in the current deal.

This seems like a problem for a league that generates so much interest from transactions.

The thing that really hits you is how incredible so-called “normal,” “regular” people are

The loss of The Other Site was (I am sorry to have to admit) painful for a lot of people my age - this seems analogous for a younger generation.

One thing about shooters is they are often more skilled than you think - they are just used to being pigeon-holed into ab exclusively jump-shooting role and no, I am definitely not projecting any of my own bitterness onto Sam Hauser

This year's Celtics play really good basketball and deserve every nice thing people have said about them, but there are some teams that are simply better than them in their current form, and I think the Pistons are the only one of those teams in the Eastern Conference.

I’m decidedly not a fan of the sport, but I regretfully admit that you do in fact have to hand it to playoff football
January 19, 2026 at 2:52 AM
Sam Hauser is shooting in defiance of the basketball gods and does not deserve this record.

And with this I can announce my next step. I will be joining Sports Illustrated to take over the Celtics On SI page. In reality, very little changes except where my work is published. I'm still doing Locked On Celtics and Locked On NBA.

This will come as a shock to everyone, but I don’t think the Celtics should trade Anfernee Simons!

I am really excellent at writing heavy music, especially in the vein of Every Time I Die.
Artists, I think we're all too comfortable sharing our imposter syndrome.

I would love to see you step out of your comfort zone and confidently state what you think you're actually really good at.

No self deprecation, just what you think you're the strongest at

Is anyone brave eniough? 👀

It was crazy watching Wemby against the Celtics, where every stat was middling but the impact was staggering and instantly apparent
You should read Dan’s entire article, but this is an incredible stat.

Now that the best player on earth likely doesn’t qualify for the MVP, does Wemby have a chance already?

Sometimes I think people imagine having a kid is like "The Road," but it's been a lot more like this song for me.

"I'm finding hope in the pocket of my winter coat / Your gloves a reminder that I'm not alone.

"Put the work in, plant a garden, try to stay afloat."

The Payton Pritchard video floating around of him playing basketball with kids is a Cadillac ad, it looks unnatural and staged, and it doesn't hold a candle to the video his wife took of him hooping against some random kid in the park two years ago.
