At the risk of sounding dramatic, the Giannis/Kalshi partnership - especially given the timing - is a stain on the soul of the league, and everyone involved should be investigated.

Thinking about binge watching The Road, The Mist, and Requiem for a Dream for a dose of positivity after yet another week of watching Thomas Frank’s version of Tottenham Hotspur FC

A small but very deep thing that bothers me about generative AI as a shortcut to practice and work and skill is the basic assumption that it’s impossible to take pleasure in a creative pursuit that you aren’t very good at and I assure you that is not the case

The Celtics are suffering from the success of their "find good role players who fit next to Tatum when he returns" strategy for the 2025-26 season.
I think Minott is good, and probably a bit better than Walsh or Scheierman, but Mazzulla and the team obviously don't agree on at least that second part and the team has less long-term control. He's going to find a home where he can play and show that he's valuable. Sad to lose him.

I'm glad Giannis is staying put, if only because if you really want to be traded, you should have to say it.

Not a wrestling guy, but apropos of nothing, Brody King is very publicly anti-ICE. He’s also a vocalist and author of one of the toughest lines in hardcore: “Life is hard / BE HARDER” youtu.be/ATSD1-J7jnQ?...

Yeah, Sengun audibly called the ref a "bitch" directly under the rim mic.

I would be fascinated to know what Ime said, because it was either 1) "toss me" or 2) something truly nasty in the calmest tone imaginable, because that escalated fast and he never changed his facial expression lol

More teams should try the Celtics' strategy of only employing good basketball players.

This is the most "Bro is onto absolutely nothing" trade I have ever seen on both sides. It might be my favorite NBA trade of all time.

Check this out motherfucker [trades one third of my roster and some picks to another losing team for the most injured man alive, unclear what kind of move I was trying to make]
BREAKING: The Dallas Mavericks are trading 10-time NBA All-Star Anthony Davis, Jaden Hardy, D'Angelo Russell and Dante Exum to the Washington Wizards for Khris Middleton, AJ Johnson, Malaki Branham, Marvin Bagley III, 2 first-round picks and 3 second-rounders, sources tell ESPN.

Is there a ChatGPT psychosis epidemic among NBA GMs?

I would describe Payton Pritchard's sideline response about going back to the bench as "terse."

If Baylor Scheierman went to a significantly better barber and put on a No. 32 Mavs jersey, he could pass as Cooper Flagg for several minutes before someone realized what was going on

Brad is smarter than me, so I assume this is a great trade but I can’t say I see it lol

Obviously the big story is Shams hilariously choosing to disguise the identity of a Mysterious Milwaukee Star that the Timberwolves will be pursuing, but also labeling Kevin Huerter a "sharpshooter" is quite the stretch.
Bulls and Pistons have desires met here in a young and veteran guards to Chicago and a sharpshooter goes to Detroit. Minnesota creates significant tax savings and roster space as they pursue a Milwaukee star this week.

Cursed to have chosen (!) to cheer for Tottenham Hotspur.

Blessed to watch Xavi Simons play.

Listen, the Other Site has its flaws, but one thing it gets absolutely correct: It is @johnkaralis.com's fault that Jayson Tatum might not come back this year, so make sure you direct all complaints at him.

Baylor Scheierman is REALLY strong, which honestly might be a little under-discussed.

IMO the biggest issues facing the NBA are, in some order:

- The CBA being boring-complicated, not fun-complicated
- The 2016 Finals being a brutally tough act to follow
- The death of Twitter
The trade deadline is about a week away.

I spent a decade as maybe one of the 500 most informed people in the world on the NBA's CBA and now I can barely keep track of all the rules in the current deal.

This seems like a problem for a league that generates so much interest from transactions.
