Leaders in economics, politics, and business can’t agree on how quickly AI will transform work in America. But no matter how long it takes, “there’s no sign—none—that our political system is equipped to deal with what’s coming,” Josh Tyrangiel reports:

When the Supreme Court allowed immigration agents to consider race during sweeps, Justice Brett Kavanaugh said that citizens shouldn’t be concerned because agents will “promptly let the individual go.”

For these Americans, that wasn’t true.

Until a few days ago, the flag had flown for several years in a park across from Stonewall Inn, the gay bar where a 1969 raid sparked an uprising and helped catalyze the LGBTQ+ rights movement.

Regulations are what keeps ordinary Americans healthy and, often, alive.

It took spoiled meat and rodent droppings out of our food. It took harmful lead out of our gasoline and paint. It took poison out of our water.

Deregulation only achieves one goal: making rich corporations richer.
