Mamdani is going to implement Shaqiri law.
Everyone will be required to root for #LFC (sorry Zohran!) and the Swiss National Team.
@erinnyc75.bsky.social @clinicalliz.bsky.social can fill you in on all the details.

The curse of James Franklin lives on. THE DRIVE started with a 7 yard sack of the IU QB. Why did Indiana squib kick?!?!?

Gus Johnson going absolutely bananas right now calling this insane Penn State v Indiana game. Honestly, can’t blame him. Best College Football Game I’ve watched in a long time. TD IS GOOD!!!!

Premier League scriptwriters have lost their damn minds! Sunderland scores very late in stoppage time to earn the 2-2 tie v Arsenal. #LFC v City even more massive now! @meninblazers.bsky.social

Maybe Don’t Talk to the New York Times About Zohran Mamdani
It’s remarkable, the people you’ll hear from. Teach for even a little while at an expensive institution—the term they tend to prefer is “elite”—and odds are that eventually someone who was a studen…

I can’t over emphasize how Ross Douthat’s piece makes all women less safe. It incites more harassment and abuse of women in the workplace and beyond. It’s incredibly irresponsible and frankly dangerous.

And it was run by one of the most influential publications in the country.

Yes! My current CM @cmcrystalhudson.bsky.social and my former CM and friend @shahanafrombk.bsky.social in neighboring districts here in Central Brooklyn. Not surprisingly they went BIG for Zohran Mamdani.
Also of import from last nights election:

The two Councilmembers who had the most total votes throughout the whole City were @shahanafrombk.bsky.social and Crystal Hudson:

Shahana Hanif - 53,139
Crystal Hudson - 53,011

No one else crossed 50k

In 2021 a single, Muslim, Bangladeshi young woman raised in Kensington got elected to the NY City Council in D39, the district that de Blasio and Lander had represented. Her name is Shahana Hanif and she won re-election in 2025 with a remarkable 70% of the vote against seriously funded opposition.

To be a successful working-class woman of color comes with the territory of erasure. I’m sure the kids will find me the way I found Begum Rokeya among others.
And it’s just infuriating to see Shahana Hanif’s story be ignored, particularly in this moment. This won’t be the last time I rant about this, but I’ve read more about losing (almost all male) Muslim candidates than I have about the most successful Muslim woman in the history of NYC politics.

Crucial thing to watch: The Dem blowout wins suggest it'll be way more risky for GOPers to gerrymander, because the GOP safer seats may become more vulnerable than expected. Rs in those seats will now be very nervous.

Exchange on this w/Dem operative Jessica Post:
