Don't just defund ICE, dismantle the Department of Homeland Security. It's a knee-jerk bureaucratic monster created in panic after 9-11. It includes 22 agencies in a non-functional family, and has a creepy name. It's existence tempts those with bad instincts and intentions. Do away with it.
The Trump administration is moving forward with plans that could dramatically shrink the FEMA, according to court filings. In documents submitted late Tuesday, groups warned that the Department of Homeland Security (which oversees FEMA) may cut more than 10,000 agency jobs which is 50% of staff.

They don't seem even to have the energy to bullshit any more. (must add, the Bondi demand is so naked I'd not believe the story but that Sen. Murphy is generally sober and honest.)
Pam Bondi just sent a letter to Minnesota officials saying ICE will leave if the state turns over its voter database to Trump.

Guess what? This has never been about safety or immigration. It’s a pretext for Trump to take over elections in swing states.

This video seems to show at least two undercover provocateurs among protestors in MSP.
(#1 is they big guy on the ground greeted by uniforms with "you alright?". #2 is the guy shouting "he's one of us.")

Another TV guy saying amen to this. Trump is, as we say, 'talent', or sometimes 'a piece of talent', and occasionally, 'meat puppet.' Sometimes performers know who they are, and sometimes they believe the thing on the screen is real. Trump seems the latter.

“I look down at the crashing swell. Alone at the after-party, a kind of honeymoon in hell. I am on the list, a bit of grave misfortune. I am in the New York Post, even worse. The ink is black, the pages yellow. Everything, some kind of lie. What of doubt? Scientists cannot see the soul.”
Sentences From American Canto That Sent Me To The Hospital
I reviewed Olivia Nuzzi's American Canto for Slate. There's far less RFK Jr. in it than you'd expect.

These local jobs were great opportunities for young journalists to learn their craft.
First newspaper I worked at in the '00s covered a ~100,000 town w/ 6 reporters, 4 photographers, news ed, & editor, plus 8 subs covering that and the other six papers in the group. Now? Two reporters & 1 ed based in a different town.

Similar at second paper, now reduced to two reporters and one ed.
Met the former editor of the York Evening Press last night, who said in the mid-90s he had 85 people working directly for him, including nine staff photographers. All that to serve a city and surrounding area of about 200k people. Local news was wilddddd.
