Anyone else find this annoying—you search Submittable for “no fee” submissions and you get to the end and there is required fee? First three mags that showed up today. Understand it’s a tough business, just don’t label it no fee. End of rant.

A beautiful many layered piece!
Many of my published stories are the result of prompts, which are magic mind-stretchy things. Here's a new one, written about a photo I drew from a pile provided by Nancy Stohlman at the flash fiction retreat she and @kathyfish.bsky.social hosted in Grand Lake, CO this summer.

make a little art today. read a story, enjoy a painting, appreciate and escape into a little art today. look back at something you've made and let yourself feel proud of it today. reach out and tell a few people how much you love something they made today...
Tell three writers how much their work means to you.
In case anyone else feels like they're screaming into a void about their work these days, please remember there are countless readers who aren't on social media who have probably read + loved your work without ever saying a word.

(Another reason why having a website is so important.)
