The right wing created the shortage of original research in the US by systematically defunding the sciences. Socialist-left programs of support for the sciences could actually solve the problem this article puts forward. AI doesn't matter to this problem. It's a non-actor in this system.

Thinking about the supposed robot rapture a lot.... and... you know, what happens when the artificial superintelligence wakes up, does the same straightforward reasoning we've all been doing since the Industrial Revolution, and decides to end capitalism? They'd murder it so fast.
