i think jesse jackson was one of the most important american political figures of the post-war era and i think that his 1984 and 1988 campaigns for the democratic nomination still have a great deal to teach about forging a path to a more egalitarian world. RIP.

I would read the hell out of this.
Not saying I think about the structural problems with A Song of Ice and Fire too much, but the other day I had a dream that 'The Winds of Winter' came out, and that it had an entirely new set of POV characters: historians trying to piece together how the war *really* ended a thousand years later.

Finally got to read 20 Days of Turin thanks to @tobiascarroll.bsky.social and @jeffvandermeer.bsky.social talking about it here. Great book. Very short novel but lots of depth in which you can linger if you so desire

Looked at my feed and saw that some folks were beginning to re-argue the 2000 election, and, with all due respect, I'm not sure how much good revisiting those arguments between now and Election Day 2028 is going to do.

Did this very double feature tonight. Holy shit. Both very much worth your time, both very much not what I expected.
Just saw the trippiest double feature. These are both in theaters right now and if can see ‘em back-to-back DO IT.

To celebrate SHE IS HERE, I changed my avatar to “Happy Hound,” one of the drawings—all (very!) loosely based on Early Medieval images from the Book of Kells, Lindisfarne Gospels, and Pictish symbol stones—in the book. Along with poems, stories, essays, and a new novella, “Many Things in Dumnet.”

Was just talking to a friend about this — 20+ years after seeing it, Van Der Beek's performance in The Rules of Attraction has carved out a little space in my brain. www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-review...
Critic’s Appreciation: James Van Der Beek Will Be Remembered for ‘Dawson’s Creek,’ but His Best Work Was Far Funnier and Odder
'Varsity Blues' and 'Dawson's Creek' generated the memes, but things like 'Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23' showed Van Der Beek's talent.

Bad Bunny's historical advisor is an assistant professor at UW-Madison.

Hell of a flex for your tenure file.
Not at all surprised to learn that Bad Bunny has a historical adviser. His halftime show was a reminder that our history and culture are deeply intertwined with the rest of the western hemisphere. We should think of his performance as part of #America250. #SuperBowl
