Attention #AcademicSky Everyone is talking about books, but thousands of academic journals were also pirated and are entitled to up to $3,000 *per pirated volume!!!* if editors submit titles to join the suit. Incredible opportunity for underfunded journals to get some $$! #SkyStorians #MedievalSky

Improvised a light table with tubelox and old IKEA finds so that the older kiddo could draw a map on graph paper for a new version of his board game. Currently plays a bit like a cross between Risk and DnD. Next parent job is to nudge toward collab instead of world domination.

Just a reminder to check for your name in this list of books that OpenAI trained from. If your name is there, they probably owe you several thousand dollars.

OpenAI cried that if everyone eligible author files, the company will go bankrupt, so I'm alerting every author I have ever spoken to.

Every conference should have a track dedicated to Gen AI applications. A whole track with all the Gen AI talks. Over there. Down the hall. Yep. Keep going. Just a bit farther. Okay, yeah now open the door. Uh-huh. Now close the door behind you.

YEP RIGHT THERE.

I always love those lists of "35 under 35," but as I get older, I find that I would love to know about innovations/art from people over 65. "65 over 65" please. Elders have incredible ideas that are the result of having seen the full lifecycle of previous ideas and learned from it.

You too can be part of ensuring the security and safety of those around you. I'm giving a talk tomorrow 9 July at 11 Eastern about how to do this on software teams but you can apply it wherever you care about.

Divide and Conquer: Practicing Security as One Agile Team | Agile Alliance
In an environment increasingly focused on the “efficiency” of software development, it's often tempting to divide and conquer challenges, pushing security responsibilities to specialists. But what if ...

To put into perspective how astronomically high 87% is...

In 2012, 87% of Black men voted for Obama. Republicans like the way immigration is "being handled" as much as Black men liked Obama.

🤔I swear, I don't think some of y'all even talk to Trump voters before you claim that they don't like this.

Lots of talk today about the demise of BlueSky. For whatever it's worth, it's been a boon to indie publishers like us. Twitter and Facebook have pretty much silenced us, so the engagement here has, and continues to be, wonderful.

But none of that will happen.🤷🏿‍♂️

Because in the US, we have absolutely no authority to hold cops accountable for this stuff.

Because both Dems and GOP like having a police force that can crush Black protest without accountability.

Like I said, racism is just fascism practiced on Black people first.
this is incredibly illegal and the cops are out of control

this guy should be gone from the force immediately and prosecuted, it’s all on camera

You don't need to be sure "the next right thing" is categorically, objectively the next "right" thing. Recovery involves LOTS of educated guesses. Just do your best, pay attention, remember your recovery goals today, & course correct as you go.

Easy does it. You've got this.

I realise this is a bit underspecified: in both pottery and calligraphy, you stabilise the arm and loosen the wrist to achieve more stable and finer control and responsiveness.

Tension at the edges makes for more friction and chaotic instability.

Looseness at the edges allows more adaptation.
