There's a famous true crime case in which a man is shot while sleeping, but was still able to get up and prepare for his workday despite missing a large chunk of his brain as the daily nonsense habits were so deeply ingrained that performing them was meaningless.

I think about him a lot lately.

Didn’t manage a clean shutdown. File server died just before i could run the command. We’re down until morning. Or until I get woken up by the power coming back, maybe.

Clearly I missed some sort of zeitgeist.

Achievements are for video games.

I'm helping my coworkers and customers use systems thinking to work through systems designed to work against them.
Please never speak about how you were a “gifted kid” in middle school if you are 30+ years old. Talk about something you achieved after turning 21. Make it up if you must. We’ll never know on here.

the fact that this person thinks the workers need to be "Hispanic immigrant-based" shows both the racism and the degree to which entire industries depend on having a sector of the population whose status is by definition precarious, allowing them to be exploited for profit.
“"The contractor world is full of Republicans. I'm not anti-ICE. We're supportive of what the president is trying to do. But the reality of it is our industry has to have the Hispanic immigrant-based workers in it," Harrison said.”

The absolute lack of basic logic skills here.

An acquaintance of an old work friend asked me to narrate a thing. Just about the driest piece of technical writing I’ve ever encountered, read in the most irritating, “God I want to punch this guy” way I could muster. Enjoy, if you so choose.

Make no mistake, the SCOTUS decision about birthright citizenship IS ALSO ABOUT *birthright citizenship.*
The Court is using nationwide injunctions as the tail, wagging the dog, to take us back to an Antebellum view of citizenship.
That way led to war once.
My latest in @thenation.com
The Supreme Court's Birthright Citizenship Ruling Is a Five-Alarm Catastrophe
In Trump v. CASA, the court hands the president yet more unaccountable authority—and yanks us into a neo-Confederate legal nightmare.

They are going to ignore court orders.

If they ignore court orders, the social contract is dead and buried, the constitution is no longer in effect.

It's a rubicon that cannot be uncrossed.
