Olympian levels of stupidity.
Burgum: "CO2 was never a pollutant. When we breathe, we emit CO2. Plants need CO2 to survive and grow. They thrive with more CO2. So the whole endangerment thing opens up an opportunity for the revival of clean, beautiful, American coal."

Accusation as admission, as usual.
Mike Johnson: "Their policies are so unpopular -- they are refuted and repudiated at the ballot box over and over -- so they feel they gotta cheat. Frankly, that's it."

How can this be allowed? The original price is exorbitant; a resale price of $3667 is shameful. FIFA is such a disgrace. The World Cup ticketing process is turning the event into a carnival of greed.

Alistair Darling and the official Treasury were always aware that investment banks had an inside track to Number 10. But the brazen nature of that inside track is rather breath-taking.
Who leaked this Number 10 discussion to Jeffrey Epstein? And are there consequences for the leaker?

It’s an internal discussion re. getting markets moving in the aftermath of the financial crisis. No doubt of great interest to Epstein and his financial market clients.

On the upside, the cars were a lot more colorful. Maybe we could simply aim for fewer, more colorful cars.
Remember this picture, & others like it, every time you hear someone in your city say "we're not Amsterdam."

This was #Amsterdam in the 1970s.

Many of the cities we admire made better choices regarding cars in the past. and are still making better choices today.

Better choices instead of excuses.

It’s almost as if the two greatest challenges of our time - economic inequality and climate change - have dropped out of the picture entirely. All the while, things are getting worse on both fronts.
The one thing that is growing extremely fast is the wealth of the top billionaires:

The top 0.00001% used to own the equivalent of 3% of national income in wealth in 2010

Now they own the equivalent of 12% of national income!

The Bill of Rights, a quaint idea.
🚨HOLY CRAP. An ICE whistleblower just revealed a secret memo authorizing ICE officers to break into homes without a judicial warrant, which DHS's own legal training materials say is unconstitutional!

ICE then hid the memo from the public, passing it along by word of mouth and private conversation.

January 15, 2026 at 5:35 PM
Quite the chart.
Arrests of people with no criminal record surged by 2,450% in Trump’s first year.

This was driven by increases in tactics like “at-large” arrests, roving patrols, worksite raids, and re-arrests of people attending immigration court hearings or ICE check-ins.

They are unlawfully detaining people for First Amendment protected activities, as far as I can tell. Dragging people out of their vehicles absent witnessing a crime and without a judicial warrant is repugnant to our constitutional order.
New video shows ICE agents detaining a US citizen legal observer in Minneapolis.

The agents smashed his car window, dragged him out, and placed a knee on his neck.

This is terrorism, by which I mean “the unlawful use of violence or threats to intimidate or coerce a civilian population or government, with the goal of furthering political, social, or ideological objectives.”
Today at 34 & Park in Minneapolis, a woman tried to drive down the street where a protest had broken out in front of a home ICE was raiding, saying she had a doctor apt to get to. ICE agents busted out her windows, cut off her seatbelt, and pulled her out before arresting her.
