TL;DR: Religious belief in individuals is a consequence of our evolved tendency to detect agency in our environment. Religious behaviour in societies promotes cooperation at large scales and so is evolutionarily beneficial.

I hadn't even heard of South Korea until 5 minutes ago, but given there is a North Korea, I guess it makes sense there is a South! Anyway, I've gotta do a report on what's going on over there tonight, so lemme do a 15-minute Google search and I will be delighted to put myself forwards as an expert ❤️
