After the mid-2000s, veterans in Iraq and Afghanistan got a little "You were young and tricked" grace, and could still eek out a "Thank you for your service."
But I think in 15 years time if any American goes "I served in Iran" it's just gonna be a "Wow, you're one stupid motherfucker, aren't you?"

Fun fact that should make you hate the United States and hopefully realize it was always shitty: The first ever airplane attack on US soil was literally done by the US government because they were upset about some coal miners in West Virginia going on strike. 🫠
