Feeling like the world is spinning out of control? 🌍 There’s plenty to worry about…
BUT: even in the last 5 years, global poverty has continued to decline. 📉✨
Progress is possible—and it’s happening.
To track progress towards ending extreme poverty by 2030, the United Nations relies on the World Bank to estimate the share of people living below a certain threshold, called the International Poverty Line (IPL).

Research for grants rather than grants for research.

This kind of policy, especially with additional cuts to federal funding, will create perverse incentives that will have consequences on the actual science that this whole system is supposed to support.

To express it in a consciously neutral way:
Most (if not all) 🇪🇺 countries stopped vaccinating healthy children against SARS-CoV-2
BUT
all 🇪🇺 countries recommend these vaccines for pregnant women!
Quite incomprehensible from an international perspective. I feel sorry for our colleagues in the US.
Breaking news: Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is ending his agency's recommendation that healthy pregnant women and healthy children receive the coronavirus vaccine.
RFK Jr. ends covid shot recommendation for healthy children, pregnant women
Currently the vaccine is recommended for all people over 6 months of age.

Words matter.
It’s time to retire the term oral “step-down.”
It implies inferiority of the oral route—and doesn’t align with stewardship principles.
Terms like IV to oral switch or oral transition better promote optimal antimicrobial stewardship.
What terms do you use—and why? #idsky

“children vaccinated before 8.5 months of age exhibited a markedly faster antibody decay and lost their protective neutralizing antibody levels over 6 years.”

So, in times of outbreaks, when infants get an early💉dose to get protection ASAP, they’ll likely still need their 2 scheduled doses later

This is such an important shift. For many years the catholic church withheld support for HPV vaccination which prevents cervical cancer.
119,000 women die from this cancer in Africa every year.
This full throated support of the HPV vaxx by the church will help uptake.
