Sitting a stewing in frustration isn't nearly as cathartic as just designing a poster. Let's see how often I remember that in 2026.

This is really disappointing. I have not and will never use AI for anything but I do think there’s probably a level of AI use that is tolerable - if someone wants to ask ChatGPT for feedback as they prep an internal presentation, that can’t really be stopped or policed. But concept art?!?!?
NEW: I spoke to Larian boss Swen Vincke about their ambitions for their new RPG Divinity, cutting down development time, pressures from Baldur's Gate 3, why BG3 wouldn't have happened without Tencent, how Larian uses generative AI, and much more www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...

This take brought to you by the admirable but misplaced generosity being extended to Ian Bogost right now
We need to come up with a ratio of caveats to words at which someone’s take can be dismissed outright. For instance, if someone posts a 150-word thread and the only honest response is “he’s right about x but wrong about z, y, and a,” that would be a ratio of 1 caveat to 50 words. Not worth engaging

1) Yes, obviously this is what this is actually about.

2) Academic freedom and, more to the point, standards are supposed to render this approach ineffective. Their abandonment in order to throw trans people under the bus is catastrophic.

i’m genuinely so convinced all of this has been a planned operation by the student and her mother (who is commenting on this publicly, and associated closely with the republican party), and big far right propaganda account going all in on it. this is designed to oust trans people from public life

I’m a card-carrying AI hater so I’ve been waiting for the bubble to pop but…this is going to BAD bad, isn’t it?
From the people who brought you the financial crisis, Theranos, and Juicero: say hello to data center financial engineering!
I'm pretty nervous about this ending badly, but everyone's dug in because AI is the only pulse in the economy.

The AI Bubble Is Bigger Than You Think - The American Prospect
It’s not just OpenAI that looks overhyped. There’s a whole mountain of sketchy financial engineering underneath.

It should go without saying that the disclosure of personal demographic information that was promised confidentiality to a government committee by the Tri-Council would be the most fundamental breach of ethics and pose a genuine danger to the safety of Canadian researchers.

To echo the chorus a bit: some really talented folks are involved in the Vertigo relaunch, and I’m sure some of the books will be good, but there’s pretty much nothing there that promises to be as new or transgressive as a GFM-penned horror comic would have been.

No shade to any of the Vertigo relaunch writers, but this is what the lineup looks like with me no longer in it, lol.

I gotta say, it's a bit rich relaunching Vertigo, "Comics! They're not just for kids!", after being lily livered cowards who hurled a trans writer under the bus for making a Kirk joke.

DC comics planting their flag on the moral high ground on the side of a white nationalist, transphobe while dutifully carrying on his rotten work in the firing of Gretchen Felker-Martin.
The characters of the DC universe would find this despicable.

It’s an absolute shame that DC fired Gretchen Felker- Martin for exercising free speech and then @bsky.app suspended her account. Every writer here should be decrying this because we have to stand up for each other! This is ridiculous.
