Can we take a moment to appreciate the excellent composition and design by artist Reynold Brown?

Multiple scales of figures; the slant of the gateway and text (with portcullis pointing down); the eye lines of the large heads, raven and skull directing your eye; depth; stylish but legible lettering.
Matheson turns melancholy to mirth for Cormans lovably lunatic tale of warring wizards. Hardly Poe but lots of fun and the cast are a scream. 1963.

It's 20 years since @seanphillips.bsky.social and I exchanged a sketchbook back and forth in the mail, a drawn &painted call and response. INTERSECTIONS may be out of print but here is a flip through that sketchbook. You can still find the book out there :)

Look at all the incredible variety in the line work! Such a beautiful combination of precise, clean details in the face and quick strokes on her hair. I love the thick weights on her head and sweater.

this is such a fantastic example of the transformative power of design when used collaboratively and intelligently. the visual design of this campaign is deep-rooted in history and culture and is thoughtful and beautiful
In particular Aneesh Bhoopathy, from the design coop Forge, who designed the identity. A brilliant reminder to *employ human creatives!*
