I think far too often about how much I would love to see this face be punched when it’s making this exact expression. Every time I come across this video. Just… you know. Clock him right in the nose.

If you go deep on GBV, you will likely enjoy my (music encyclopedia) husband talking to Morgan Enos about Pollard, etc., on Morgan’s GBV substack. Pretty fun interview excitedones.substack.com/p/what-gbv-m...
What GBV Means To James Jackson Toth: "I Don't Want To Be One Of Those Fairweather Fans"
The Wooden Wand and DUNZA mastermind — as well as accomplished music writer — on what we can take away from the story of Robert Pollard and Guided by Voices.

Working on something scholarly for the first time in nearly two years feels especially good rn bc the school that laid me off also cut funding for conferencing, and—big and—I had no idea whether I'd be able to work in academia again. Wasn't sure I still had these muscles. Big feelings, guys.

Eating Bojangles and reading Walter Benjamin in the parking lot waiting for Aldi to open. This is some life I’ve carved out for myself 😅

writing a piece on this tomorrow but I think the bland truth is that a lot of people just don't care! saw it in Westminster too, fundamentally a lot of men - and some women - simply don't really give a shit if a man is said to be a sexual abuser, as long as they don't have to see if they don't care
One of the more upsetting things in this is that he wasn't blackmailing them: These men were part of this and protecting him not out of obligation or even particularly out of access, but out of solidarity.

A lot of the comments are about how people are going to start fleeing TAMU and Texas for other schools. I wish I thought they could, but they can’t, except a few superstars. There are No Jobs. Anyone who has a job right now has won the lottery and people have kids to feed.

Man, this is a house with some sleazy secrets. And it’s been on the market for several months. I wish somebody cool would come restore it to its weird, seedy glory and be my neighbor. You’d call it “the Tooth house,” naturally. www.zillow.com/homedetails/...

Anybody else reading Elisa New's email to Woody Allen via the balcony 'honest subtitles' scene from Annie Hall?

"not strictly dictated or delimited by the lines themselves? Listen to me--what a jerk!" ugh

Yeah I imagine I'd be real opposed to moral clarity too when I owed my fanciest dinners out to the neo-Nazi Big Pedophile circuit.
I love writing one single article over and over again every month

The track “Hugh Kenner” was originally conceived as a collab with JJT; it turned out that the more pensive, introspective style of what I was working on was not for him. The amelia project was sort of an outgrowth of James saying “you should really be doing your own thing.”

Faculty with a clear sense of what AI writing looks like have to figure out a non-condescending way to communicate to our colleagues that so-called AI detectors are super unreliable. I’m getting tired of sitting through meetings where a colleague says “I ran it through an AI detector, and ….”
