Same. I saw this film along with The Clash’s “Rude Boy” at the Oriental Theater. This film, and his music, left a lasting impression on me.
Like a lot of dudes, my introduction to reggae (outside of the Bob Marley that gets played at college parties and hung on dorm walls) came from this film and its soundtrack.

But what appealed to me most was its unintentional sense of documentary that runs through the film.

RIP Jimmy Cliff.

Forgot to post this: Two more Murakami books completed. Men Without Women has some great stories, one particular favorite is ‘Kino’. Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki is really good as well, but the resolution left me feeling wanting a bit more.

Cheney provided the early blueprint for the current regime to carry out to even further extremes. I'd add that his list of contributions should also include running a PSYOP campaign of disinformation against your own citizens in an effort to increase & consolidate power, and oppress dissent.
Cheney was a principal architect of the contemporary US dystopia. Cops rolling around in armored vehicles? Cheney. Immigration black sites? Cheney. Ubiquitous warantless surveillance? Private corporations profiting from war, disaster and incarceration…

Finished my reread of 1Q84 a couple of days ago. Thoroughly enjoyed it the second time around. I do think book 3 drags a little bit at times, some of it because of Murakami’s attention to detail. Terrific book overall though.

Love. These. Brewers.
Final: Brewers 7, Cubs 3

Vaughn homered. Then Contreras did. Then Chourio. In between, Jacob Misiorowski absolutely delivered on the biggest stage of his life. The bullpen dominated down the stretch.

Series: Brewers lead, 2-0

Just that annual reminder that the owners of the Cubs, the Ricketts family, are huge Trump supporters.

Go Brewers! Forever and always.

Wow, a gutsy win for Arsenal in an environment where everything usually goes against them. BIG moment in the early season. COYG!

Finished Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman. Great collection of Murakami’s short stories. Now I am about to start a rereading of his magnum opus, 1Q84.
