What's going on in LA should be a real wakeup call for folks who don't already know that a fully liberal government can still wind up a police state and without some major change to the way we talk about the militarization of policing, nothing will get better

Seconded. I was already a skeptic about immigration controls to begin with, but reading ‘Open Borders’ and all the evidence detailed within about how open immigration enriches nations with virtually zero drawbacks (except for pissing off bigots) just cemented how harmful and arbitrary they are.
I wish everyone would read @zachweinersmith.bsky.social'sbook "Open Borders" on how good immigration is, and why open borders aren't the eeeeevil the GOP (and, sadly, too many Dems) make them out to be.
