Hello Bluesky friends! I took a break from social media over the festive season but I’m pleased to be back 😊 Here’s my current fiction read. I’m really enjoying it so far which is no surprise to me since I adored Song of Achilles by the same author

I finished this poetry collection by Louise Campbell today. Incredibly powerful and moving poems of Louise’s lived experience of being both a Mental Health Nurse and an inpatient in a psychiatric hospital.

I’ll post a review on my Instagram (The Psych Library) soon.

Lifelong learning is one of my favourite things about a career in Clinical Psychology. It’s a reality that’s often exciting, sometimes overwhelming but always rewarding in the end
“Learning is the only thing the mind never exhausts, never fears, and never regrets.”

“To be good at something, you must first be willing to be bad at it”

- words I have found to be most comforting throughout my personal and professional life thus far and, I imagine, in the future

I much prefer physical books and I love that it’s a screen-free activity for me. With memoirs though, I often opt for audiobooks as I find it so powerful to hear the authors tell their own story
Does anyone else still prefer reading physical books over e-books???

The Myth of the Untroubled Therapist - Marie Adams

The Inmate - Freida McFadden

Anybody read any of these?

Today was the final day to submit #dclinpsy applications. Thinking of everyone who applied this year as I know all too well how consuming and brutally relentless application cycles can be!

Wishing you all the best of luck and I’ll leave you with a poem that I hope offers some words of comfort 🪷
