It’s chilly today isn’t it!! The heating has gone out in our building so we’re solely supported by these little guys, they’ve got their work cut out for them haha

Yes it really is a different experience, though I’m a paperback person myself - I love cracking the spine!

Oh that’s such a shame, some of those poems hit like a brick shattering a window. I think mental health professionals, especially those in inpatient services, would benefit from connecting with her words 🙁

I do usually post a few of my favourites on my Instagram when I post my review though!

It’s more likely that they have enough ego strength to tolerate the emotional demand of therapy. Also *may* then safeguard against a relapse during therapy. Since substance use can be a way to dissociate from pain, use between sessions may impede emotional processing.

Our wider service works in partnership with drug and alcohol services to support engagement. To be considered for psych therapy though, there’s a general rule of thumb of abstinence for 6-12 months. Not an official policy as far as I know and does involve more thinking e.g. extent of use etc.

Many online reviews are from people who have found comfort in the book, having struggled with OCD themselves. I would absolutely recommend this to certain patients/clients

Key thoughts: this is an intimate, poignant and evocative read. Lily sheds light on the various manifestations of OCD that go beyond the dominant narrative of cleanliness or contamination anxieties. I was moved by her courage and honesty and her experiences brought me closer to those I work with

Thrillers or reads under 200 pages! I also get slumpy at this time of year and I remind myself that most of nature ‘rests’ in winter so it’s okay for me to rest and step away from reading for a bit too 🪷
