The Trump administration is breaking the law by transferring critical work to federal agencies that lack the expertise to lead education policy.

Congress must immediately intervene to stop this illegal restructuring and protect our students' right to an education.
US education department reassigns many powers to other federal agencies
Move marks further dismantling of the department and Democrats criticized administration for ‘slashing resources’

ICYMI: I took a shot at explaining why Democrats have been slow to put forward a positive vision for education—and the opportunity there if they do.

We need to resist the urge to make policy on—rather than with—parents and educators.

Donald Trump's plan to dismantle the Department of Education doesn't streamline or reform education - it abandons America's students.

When I ask my 8th grade students if they need help on their homework...
It's okay, Miss. I'll just use AI. 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

We are going to have an entire generation that will not have effective critical thinking skills.
The ability of the tech bros to indoctrinate children while making them illiterate via genAI doesn't get enough discussion.

"Wiggins says that the gravedigging was so traumatising that no one talked during the day, except for the few who would pray over the graves and some who quietly cried."
1/ The US Government has quietly removed a memorial to Black soldiers who died in World War II from the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, South Limburg. The move follows a complaint from the right-wing Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission. ⬇️

Doom to you who legislate evil,
who make laws that make victims—
Laws that make misery for the poor,
that rob my destitute people of dignity,

If you’re ok with vouchers being used for ski trips or piano lessons but not ok with SNAP benefits being used for pizza or cupcakes, it’s not the use of public money you have a problem with.

It’s that you think wealthy people deserve perks and poor people deserve to be poor.

What?! I only help those who like me?
What kind of a leader is this?!
Tomorrow, the Trump-Vance admin will publish a new rule allowing the Dept of Ed to disqualify employers from Public Service Loan Forgiveness that disagree w/ their right-wing agenda.

It’s an unlawful attack on nurses, teachers, first responders & public service workers.

We will see them in court.

Want to see how far right the Republican Party has gone?

Watch George H. W. Bush and Ronald Reagan answer a question about illegal immigration during a 1980 debate.

They wouldn’t even be allowed in today’s Republican Party.

PAYCHECK $0.00

A single dad holding back tears on national TV because his federal paycheck can’t cover food and rent, while Trump’s building a $350 million ballroom at the White House.

SNAP is not the reason your taxes are high.

SNAP recipients don’t need to “just go get a job”.

Most of them work. The rest are disabled, elderly, children or caregivers.

People need & deserve assistance

Your taxes fund wars and tax cuts for the ultra rich

Be mad about that

One of my hotter takes is someone trying to save men and also win back the working class is to increase teachers and care workers pay; run a big marketing campaign to rebrand them as good union jobs, & get more men in those roles.
right. given the numbers, “how to win back the working class” should be as much about care and service workers as hard hats. and yet.

$40 billion to bailout Argentina

$250 million for a White House ballroom

Who knows how much wasted to deploy the National Guard where there’s no need

But the Agriculture Department says there’s no money for SNAP-which feeds 42 million Americans

The Trump administration doesn’t care if we all die
