look there's a lot to say about everything involved here and I generally believe in problematic roads to a positive goal but I feel like the aura of this mildly cursed object screams for therapy it cannot receive

Pagliacci goes to see Pagliacci. He's in the audience, but also on the stage. "Is this, fuck," he thinks. "Am I in a Lynch film right now. Am I in Mullholland Drive." Captured by confusion, horror, and strange, exultant sorrow, the clown must admit he is no longer depressed

I recommend taking a little hike and listening to the audiobook of Stag Dance. The physical exertion made me feel marginally less stressed about it, or maybe I was just processing the stress in real time. Torrey Peters, man.

We all know the tells for when men write women characters. They’re always thinking about how thin and be-titted they are, for one.

A tell for women writing male characters is the phrase “[adjective] bastard.”

“He’s a smug bastard.”
“You love what a cocky bastard I am.”

We don’t talk enough about how many snakes have these honking big bicycle seats for heads. Have you ever seen a red diamond rattlesnake? Ridiculous. A copperhead? How do you carry that thing around, you goof?

I tried putting on the first Netflix Fear Street movie for some light background watching while I did a chore, and heads-up for some wild transphobia.

Then I made the mistake of seeing what other people thought, and the internet is full of cis gays being like, “Shut up, it has lesbians.”

There's a lot of language in the new sports ban EO, but I want to draw your attention to this section in particular. This is the latest piece in a growing body of evidence that this administration is seeking to control trans people's ability to enter or leave the country.

Okay, here’s the deal: RIGHT NOW is the time for concrete, direct action.

If you’re following me, it’s probably because you care about trans art and trans literature. The article below lays out my suggestions for dozens of concrete actions you can take to preemptively combat literary censorship.

Armchair dramaturgy: Cyrano (2021)

I made it 35 minutes, and the last 15 were after deciding to give it that long to see if the plot had started by then.

It was bad? It was very, quite bad

Oscar movies live posting: A Real Pain

I’m already chuckling. This feels like an indie movie from… the mid-aughts? I feel like there was a heyday of small, character-driven movies.

You can honor David Lynch by wearing a mask in public.

He had to begin isolating at home because he has emphysema- a COVID infection would likely be fatal- and no one wears masks anymore.

Millions of others like him (including myself) were left behind when COVID measures were abandoned

Armchair dramaturgy: Moana (2016)

I needed some sense of the scope and limitations of the ocean’s powers. Given what we saw it do, I was not clear why Moana was necessary to the whole operation.

Spoilers ahead, if you’re like me and sorta vaguely mean to see movies for years and years
