100% accurate. My first week in my MFA program I was stopped after class by my professor who asked why I wasn't at the bar last night. I told her I'd been reading and she told me that interacting w/my peers & profs was just as important (or more so!) than anything happening in class.
Just gonna say this again for games sphere cus we get the same question:
Networking doesn't mean schmoozing up to famous people, it means making friends with your peers. Then in 10 years, 20, one of you might be famous? And sure you're still helping each other cus well yeah friends.

Talking to one of these types at a con who asked how I 'got in' with so many 'famous writers' who I'd been talking to and I said "we made friends before anyone knew who we were decades ago by striking up interesting conversations and enjoying each other's company" and he kept re-asking the question.

I unabashedly love Stranger Things but there's no reason for Eleven to still not be using contractions when she speaks. It's a writing tic to show she's "different" but spending the mid-80s in an American high school would've fixed that.

i'd say it did. the public put a group of thieves, vandals and extremists in office last november and they promptly went about destroying everything that might work to limit their ability to loot, steal and inflicting pain on the people they hate

People want to believe that the GOP’s electoral success in red states is the result of dirty tricks and gerrymandering instead of the sincerely held beliefs of a majority of the population because a mechanical issue is easier to fix than wrestling with how to make people not believe what they do.
