Crockett: "If feels as if y'all have just decided that y'all are gonna castrate your constitutional duty & hand it over to someone who was unelected. It doesn't matter how many cheerleaders he had on the field campaigning for him. That doesn't mean he gets to go in and sit atop any of our agencies"

A reminder: Tariffs are a regressive tax that drives up prices on everyday goods. They disproportionately hurt the working class and poor who bear the brunt of higher costs while wealthier consumers feel significantly less impact.

Some intel: I've talked to journalists and folks on the Hill about this. Last night after OMB's action, some Senate Dems tried to unify the caucus to vote against Duffy. Schumer, among others, opposed it, and it flopped.

The current Dem leadership strategy is to use strong language but not do shit.
Yesterday, every Democrat voted to advance Sean Duffy (DOT)'s nomination.

In protest against Trump's unconstitutional freezing of federal funds, 22 Democrats voted NO on confirmation today.

Glad to see more demonstrated urgency. But that 22 should be 47.

It wasn't a good look. The CEO miscommunicated to their social media person, which resulted in an official company statement echoing his own (misguided) opinion.

Luckily they're transitioning to a nonprofit structure which should protect against any one person messing things up proton.me/foundation

It’s reasonable to worry that tech companies’ backbone for protecting users from government data requests "might soften when they get too politically involved with any one administration," EFF’s Andrew Crocker told @theintercept.com.

One day after the White House environmental justice website went dark, please join me in welcoming the father of environmental justice to Bluesky. Yes, sociologist @drrobertbullard.bsky.social literally defined the concept in his 1990 book, Dumping in Dixie: Race, Class and Environmental Quality.

If you've ever heard your Fox News loving uncle use the term besmirch, mumbling, bumbling, or say that millions of criminal migrants are slaughtering Americans he is probably a fan of Sean Hannity. This is just from last week. None of these clips have been repeated.

Oligarchy (noun): A government of and by a few at the top, who exercise power for their own benefit. Their power and wealth increase as they make laws that favor themselves, manipulate financial markets, and create monopolies that put more wealth into their pockets.

All those credit being given to people who aren't even in office yet
Last week the folks on Fox News pretended that RFK Jr., a man with no medical training who is not even gone through a confirmation process for any position, was somehow responsible for the FDA's ban of Red #3 food dye. Sean Hannity accidentally gave up the game.

Reminder that Mitt Romney explicitly said the rationale behind the tiktok ban was pro Palestinian content. The renewed push last year was explicitly to help Israel conduct a genocide without scrutiny on social media.

Imperial boomerang in action.

I’m curious about how much coverage the march is getting

Just wondering if we’re looking at another W. Bush era when the media ignored some of the largest antiwar protests in US history
More people will have shown up to the People’s March against Donald Trump than his inauguration.

🤣
