A great morning with @imcmillan.bsky.social Walking through town afterwards, I took a photo of the disappearing town hall. It made me write this short poem.

The Kind of Day

A grey, wet, maudlin Friday.
The town hall disappears,
drifting in and out of being—
like a Barnsley Brigadoon.

Good to see @imcmillan.bsky.social earlier, getting updates, talking about books and poetry. And more signed copies of My Sand Life, My Pebble Life! We were down to our last one. An excellent book, stories of coastal journeys, life and adventures.

With tunes from a flat band
Chucking those CDs out
All of them Sting’s

Busy morning sorting out deliveries, more of which soon. First books sold were these - as is often the case we get people going through series that are new to them, in this case books two and three of the Lucinda Riley Seven Sisters.

Slightly hazy download images!

Latest finished read, an advance copy of Celestial Lights by Cecile Pin. I was looking forward to this after Wandering Souls, and it does not disappoint. A twin thread of a voyage to Europa, and looking back at life. The achievements and destructive elements that come from a 'driven' life.

“Their overt scepticism, however, prevented them from successfully exploiting the image, for it was an image based on the idea that magic was not merely unexplained but inexplicable, that magic might be real.”
