Elk Rapids library is worth a visit. A former house on an island turned into a public library. It has a ton of charm

Rio's got nowt on Buxton! That's right, it was the world famous Buxton Carnival at the weekend and the weather just happened to be disgustingly good throughout.

Cadair Idris from the Berwyns. The Mach Loop is in full effect today, three pairs of jets have passed astonishingly close overhead. #442Mountains

Clever use of 2 mirrors on either side of a window high up in Cley Windmill, giving the illusion of a receding passageway.

This is a lovely walk from the pretty #Devon village of Mortehoe to Morte Point & Bull Point. Navigation is easy as you are either on the clearly signposted Coast Path or on tarmac on the return from Bull Point. Good chance of seeing seals. Details at www.happyhiker.co.uk/MyWalks/Devo...

Ramsbottom, a much nicer place than the name suggests, has a variety of interesting sights and scenery, not least the military firing range that hides a nostalgic secret...

The hike up Berkhouse Moor from Glenridding towards Helvellyn is strenuous but well worth it for the views over Ulswater and Red Tarn.

Helvellyn via Striding Edge yesterday. As someone not accustomed to elevated exposure, this was a new challenge for me. A cool-off in the stream afterwards was well needed!

The perfect Saturday... a fabulous group hike in great weather, drinks and dinner at a fantastic pub, and an open-air concert at the gorgeous Gawsworth Hall.

Saturday's hike was more of a pub crawl (pub hike?), starting at the lovely New Mills Heritage Centre, stopping at a number of the wonderful watering holes along the way.
