some people know me as the @506sports.bsky.social guy. Others know me as the @electionatlasca.bsky.social guy. Others just know me as the guy who walks around downtown Fredericton rocking jerseys and Jordans all the time.
The problem with American political discourse is they act like there is only one country in the world.

The problem with Canadian political discourse is they act like there are only two countries in the world.
Canadian fascism will manifest covered in maple syrup, holding a hockey stick and saying “Well, at least we’re not as bad as the Americans.”

NHL blackout rules explained: in order to watch the TSN broadcast of tonight's Leafs-Blues or Jets-Jackets games in NB, you need Sportsnet+.

yup... the idea that the NDP is in any mood to fight an election right now is laughable.
Heads up to my non-Canadian followers that the Liberal government could fall on a budget vote in about an hour. But it probably won't. (They're one vote short, last I heard, but going to an election now would be extremely risky for the Conservatives and the NDP.)

how many city council meetings go uncovered while these people still get paid 6 figures?
what the actual fuck is wrong with American journalists?

the Buffalo Bills are not only losing their AFC East title to the Patriots, but even elite US media is circling the wagons more than them now.

capitulating to Trump after winning a watershed election? Up here we call that "pulling a Carney".
How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

can't find a TV commercial, but this jingle has lived rent-free in my brain for 30 years: www.youtube.com/shorts/mvai0...
Please share YouTube links to the most regionally specific representations of where and when you grew up. Like… local sandwich shop commercials. Footage of amateur theater productions. Hyper regional news stories. I wanna see it all.

it takes a lot to test my patience with a customer service agent, but my experience today trying to cancel SiriusXM has managed to do that.

the Sickos Committee RTing Paris Marx is the level of "worlds colliding" in my social media feeds that I never thought I'd see ever.
Our Canadian hosts our Eurovision show and then Canada joins Eurovision. That's the Sickos Committee Bump, baybee.

still think the one thing that could possibly have stopped a Poilievre majority happened, and it didn't even happen in Canada.
It's still bonkers to think that less than a year ago the Liberals were dead in the water and Pierre Poilievre's Conservatives were headed towards the biggest electoral landslide in Canadian history.

Cut to today and Alberta Conservative MPs are rumoured to be defecting to the Liberal Party.
Dimitri Soudas, former Harper comms guy, told RadCan this morning that he's hearing Conservative MP Matt Jeneroux will cross the floor to the Liberals today.

If this happens, the Liberals are one seat short of a majority. You know what that means.

That's right.

Elizabeth May is Kingmaker.

there is some sort of Wu-Tang joke in here somewhere that I can't get to, at least without using that ferry (that has always been free).
A lot of people probably won't get how finely crafted this joke is and how many layers it has, applause to Jane

how much does Postmedia get in federal subsidies again?
This might be the most unhinged thing you read this morning about last night.

I'm sorry, I can't get past how they snuck a line into the budget on the possibility of getting Canada into Eurovision.

if someone talks about what the betting markets say about a candidate's chances of winning, I ignore everything else they have to say.
Obviously political misinformation is just the world we live in now but a relatively new one to me is online betting apps spreading misinformation because they want people to bet on political races and lose

saw someone put forth the idea that the bomb threats in Freddy today have to do with the elections in the US.

There were a bunch of other threats in New Jersey (which is voting for governor today) and some Russian bot may have gotten their New Brunswicks mixed up.

let's face it, Sportsnet+ jumped the shark when they took over the NHL package and then didn't allow access to both feeds of every game.

If they thought I'd pay $30/month for the privilege of listening to Jack Edwards call a Caps game, they were crazy.
