🎈 Well, the replies to this show a lead balloon would go down better than Trevor Phillips as chair of the BBC…

Fair comment.

These were rather wonderful awards. I went to the judging session for New Journalist ready to dig my heels in if Malak A Tantesh - reporting so bravely from Gaza - didn’t get it. In the event, I found fellow judges felt equally strongly about it and it was a very swift unanimous decision.
'Vindication': Gaza film BBC refused to show wins British Journalism Award

Ramita Navai told Press Gazette: "The whole process with the BBC was deeply disappointing and deeply upsetting"

But she said Channel 4 stepping up was "journalism at its best"

A privilege to present the New Journalist of the Year award to Malak A Tantesh, whose courage reporting on the reality of Gaza shames so many ‘journalists’ who put out the official Israeli version from the comfort of their offices in London. A unanimous decision by the judges. @pressgazette.co.uk

Odd and incompetent: Reform hits a ceiling
Polls suggest that Reform support may have peaked, perhaps because it appeals only to a very distinctive, and noisy, minority

The Express is furious about this because the moment you show those who repeat anti-immigration rhetoric the real human stories their narrative collapses.

The “immigrants” are people. Our friends, colleagues and family.

And it’s this nation of neighbours that is what makes Britain great.

After so unctuously praising Trump for his ‘peace deal,’ it’s time Starmer plucked up the courage to talk about what has ensued.

The broader point is do Farage’s racist supporters care he’s been shown to be a racist?

A day to reflect on the wit and wisdom of Sir Tom Stoppard, not least in the line: ‘I’m with you on the free press, it’s the newspapers I can’t stand…’

Starmer’s tragedy is that he is drawn to failure and humiliation, embracing and nurturing the political mistakes of others in addition of course to making a great many of his own.
I would not be surprised if the calls to join the EU will come from Tory circles before Labour.
November 30, 2025 at 10:15 AM
After praising Trump so publicly and unctuously for his ‘peace deal’ - and seeking to associate himself with it - Starmer should now feel morally obligated to talk about this.

Might the Telegraph now consider an apology to ‘the Brexit mutineers’ and consider what it is that constitutes patriotism?
