All of which to say, y'all, we need to do this together. Many, many others with much, much more experience and wisdom than me have been shouting this from the rooftops for ages. Find the ones speaking about issues important to you. Let them help you prioritize and focus your efforts.
Today I learned that I have access to @science.org via alumni library access! Whohoo!! All The Science(tm)!
The mass extinction at the end of the Permian was so bad that people call it the "Great Dying." But, it turns out marine life didn't take long to rebound. That story and more of the best from @science.org and science in this edition of #ScienceAdviser: www.science.org/content/arti... 🧪

Hooray! @authorsabb.bsky.social is *OFFICIALLY* a nonprofit, and is now open for donations!

For the last two years we've been doing all this w free tools, or paying out of pocket, & we were STILL able to get SO MUCH DONE.

Imagine what we could do with $$$

Kobo is doing a 30 day free trial promotion for their Kindle Unlimited competitor service Kobo Plus for new subscribers (not sure if this is US only), if you like queer indie books, small press SFF, and backlist SFF from large publishers there's a lot to choose from on this service that's not on KU!

Finally watching KPop Demon Hunters. Partner is dubious, but he looked away from his phone when the first song started, so I think he might be hooked.

Beautiful #Aurora visible even amidst all the light pollution just northeast of the Cities.

All photos are from my phone on "night sight" setting, but the colors are visible to the naked eye as well.

This whole thread is delightful and I highly recommend taking the time to scroll through it and goggle at the pretties!
everything is bonkers right now and we need a timeline cleanse. let’s play a game. if I handed you a blank check but you could ONLY spend it on an Advent calendar, what absurdly pricy collection of little treats are you buying yourself?

I know many of us are tired, scared & angry. When you can, if you can, channel that into doing what you can to help. Every day it's more clear the only ones who are going to save us ... are us.

Whenever you start to say "people should do x," it's you. You're "people." We're "people." It's just us.

If you’re wondering what a “least weasel” is, they absolutely live up to the name. This is the least amount of animal you can have that can still meet the bar for “is weasel”

Any knitters out there in France who could suggest some 100% silk yarn in small gauge (lace or finer)? The recipient I'll be making the Eleonora stockings for hasn't been able to source silk in the color she wants in the US, but has a trip overseas planned later this month.🧶

Decided to re-up Netflix. It's apparently been longer since I dropped it than I realized since there's a whole season of the one true Witcher we haven't seen yet!

(Potentially contributing to the brain scramble is that I used to work in public policy and had to consciously break myself of feeling like I needed to know All The Things(tm) within my area of policy. The balance between healthy engagement and unhealthy obsession is still one I walk carefully.)

Listening to @naomialderman.bsky.social's The Power while passively watching election returns is a trip. I can't decide if the book's narrative makes me nauseated because I don't want to think it'd be accurate or because I think it would be. Add tonight's glimmers of hope = brain scramble. #booksky

Dear restaurants: if your bathrooms are a toilet & sink in a separate room, why are you bothering to gender-segregate them? Just label them both "bathroom" and be done with it. Doesn't have to be political if you're worried about customer alienation (but.. really.. why you want to cater to that.. 🙄)
